Based from our head office in Whitstable, the Finance Assistant will be required to assist other members of the department. They will be competent, with a Finance background, and will be able to hit the ground running. We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident individual who is looking for a long-term career option.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting numerous members of the existing Operations team.
- Assisting with completion of bank reporting.
- Assisting with the management accounts.
- Running reports from the accounts system to show expenditure on various departments.
- Monitoring and appropriately filing emails in the shared ‘Accounts’ inbox.
- Chasing customer payment notices.
- Assisting with inputting estimates.
- Monthly monitoring of client works and keeping records updated.
- Creating invoices for clients and maintain clear communication throughout ongoing workstreams.
- Completing cash/credit accounts forms for new suppliers.
- Assisting with bill payments.
- Assisting with sub-contractor payments.
- Emailing customers RE payment dates for high value transactions.
- Preparing reports for the Finance Manager.
- Dealing with supplier disputes (in due course).
- General administration and ad hoc tasks within the department.
Requirements:
- A Finance background.
- A qualification in a related discipline, i.e. AAT (Level 3 minimum) or 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Experience within the construction industry (preferred but not essential).
- Experience within the HMRC CIS laws & regulations (preferred but not essential).
- An understanding of VAT laws & regulations (preferred but not essential).
- A conscientious, dedicated and reliable individual, with a proactive attitude.
- Strong Excel knowledge (intermediate to advanced level is highly desirable).
- Experience with QuickBooks (preferred but not essential).
- Proficient in the use of other Microsoft Office programs, i.e. Outlook and Word.
- Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- A team-oriented mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
