We are seeking an organised and collaborative Research Technician. This is a post within the Cell Signalling group in the Department of Oncology at the UCL Cancer Institute. The work of the Cell signalling group is focused on the PI3K/PTEN signalling axis and its involvement in the development and maintenance of cancer, covering basic and translational studies.
You will work under the supervision of Research Fellows and Senior Technicians. You will work closely with members of the Cell Signalling group.

This is a position in the UCL Cancer Institute to provide technical support to the Cell Signalling group to enable members to carry out efficiently their research projects. The post holder will assist in experimental procedures related to disease modelling in gene-targeted or drug-treated mice and cells. This will involve a mix of lab-based experiments (cell-based studies, tissue culture, biochemistry, cell biology) and mouse based-experimentation (providing help, for example, with sample handling and genotyping). The Postholder will also help to maintain laboratory stocks, ordering and receiving goods.
Key aspects include experience in cellular and biochemical techniques and desire to learn how to monitor health status and disease progression in experimental mouse models as well as performing basic technical in vivo procedures. The Technician is expected to have excellent time management and communication skills.
This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require the right to work in the UK to carry out this role.

The post is funded for 12 months in the first instance with a start date of 14 Sep 2026. Interviews will be held on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.
You will hold an MSc in cancer or a related biomedical science or be in the process of completing/submitting your MSc and have hands-on experience in laboratory-based research, ideally within signal transduction or cancer biology. You will be confident using a range of techniques, including cell culture, molecular biology (e.g. PCR, DNA/RNA extraction) and biochemical assays such as Western blotting.
You will be highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage your workload effectively across multiple activities. You will have strong data-handling skills and be comfortable maintaining accurate, traceable records of your work.
A collaborative and proactive team player, you will communicate clearly and work effectively with colleagues at all levels. You will be motivated to learn new skills, help maintain a well-run laboratory, and support high-quality research in a fast-paced environment.
