About the Role
Shire, a company within the Résilians Group, is seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager to lead and further develop its finance function during an exciting phase of growth and transformation.
Whilst currently operating as a single legal entity, the business is expected to expand its scope and organisational complexity in the coming years. As such, we are looking for a finance professional who combines strong technical expertise with commercial awareness, analytical rigour, leadership capabilities and the ability to build scalable financial processes and reporting frameworks.
Reporting to senior leadership, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability of financial information, supporting strategic decision-making and helping shape the future finance organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Compliance
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of all accounting and financial information.
- Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and payroll accounting processes.
- Manage monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate the preparation of annual accounts and liaise with external auditors.
- Maintain a robust internal control environment and ensure compliance with Group policies and procedures.
- Manage cash flow monitoring and support treasury-related activities.
Financial Reporting & Business Insight
- Produce reliable and meaningful financial reporting for local management and Group stakeholders.
- Develop relevant management reporting, KPIs and financial dashboards.
- Analyse financial and operational performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
- Provide clear and actionable insights to support business decisions.
- Contribute to the preparation of budgets, forecasts and long-term business plans.
- Support profitability analysis and performance monitoring across the business.
Finance Transformation & Growth Support
- Strengthen and formalise finance processes to support the next stage of the company's development.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, automation and scalability.
- Develop tools and reporting frameworks that support sustainable growth.
- Support the integration of future activities, entities or acquisitions as the business expands.
- Participate in systems optimisation and digitalisation projects.
- Contribute actively to building a finance function capable of supporting a broader and more complex organisational structure over time.
Management & Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Set priorities, organise workloads and ensure the efficient delivery of finance activities.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding and development of future finance team members as the organisation grows.
- Promote best practices and maintain high standards of financial discipline and operational excellence.
- Act as a role model and trusted leader within the organisation.
Business Partnering
- Work closely with operational and management teams to enhance financial understanding across the business.
- Act as a trusted partner to senior management, combining financial rigour with a pragmatic and commercially minded approach.
- Support managers in understanding financial performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Translate financial data into meaningful recommendations to support decision-making.
- Foster strong collaboration between Finance and operational teams.
Strategic Contribution
- Participate actively in strategic discussions regarding growth, investments and business development opportunities.
- Support senior leadership with financial modelling, scenario analysis and business cases.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, cash generation and overall business performance.
- Contribute to organisational transformation projects and future integration initiatives.
- Help shape the future finance organisation in line with the company's growth ambitions.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in accounting and finance management roles.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge combined with excellent analytical capabilities.
- Previous experience managing or mentoring finance teams.
- Experience within a growing, evolving or multi-site environment would be advantageous.
- Ability to move comfortably between operational detail and strategic perspective.
- Proven track record of improving processes and implementing robust financial controls.
- Strong systems aptitude and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools is highly desirable.
- Fluent English required; additional languages would be an advantage.
