About CHS
CHS is an award-winning commercial vehicle accident repair business. We work with major UK insurers and numerous blue-chip businesses to keep cars, vans, trucks and trailers safely on the road.
We are looking for a confident and self-motivated Telesales Executive to join our sales team at our Head Office in Hoddesdon on a maximum of 12-week temporary contract, starting as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and sourcing new client opportunities, identifying the correct decision makers within target businesses, obtaining accurate contact details, and booking qualified appointments for our Sales Director and Sales Executive.
This is a temporary role — please read
We want to be upfront: this is a maximum of a 12-week temporary assignment, not a permanent job. We are not in a position to offer a permanent position at the end of it and we would rather say so now than imply otherwise. It may be extended if the campaign continues, but please apply on the basis of a maximum of 12 weeks.
The role exists to deliver a defined piece of work — a concentrated push into the commercial vehicle and fleet market. If you are looking for a permanent job, this is not the right role for you and we would not want to waste your time. If you are between roles, available now, or you like short assignments with a clear brief and a clear finish, it could suit you very well.
You will be employed directly by CHS on a temporary contract, paid through our payroll, with holiday accruing in the normal way. This is not an agency assignment.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for generating new business opportunities by telephone, email and LinkedIn. This includes researching prospective clients, establishing who within each business holds responsibility for accident repair, making outbound contact, qualifying the opportunity and booking appointments for the sales team to attend.
The role reports to the Sales Director and involves working closely with the Sales Executive, the operations team and prospective customers including fleet operators, hauliers, logistics and distribution businesses, insurers and brokers.
Client Sourcing & Lead Generation Responsibilities
- Research and identify prospective clients operating commercial vehicles, HGVs, trucks, trailers and vans.
- Use LinkedIn, social media, company websites, trade press, Companies House and industry directories to identify target businesses.
- Identify the correct decision makers within each business, including transport managers, fleet managers, operations directors, procurement contacts and company directors.
- Obtain accurate contact details, including direct dial numbers, mobile numbers and email addresses.
- Verify contact information using more than one source to ensure accuracy.
- Research each prospect to establish fleet size, vehicle types, depot locations and current repair arrangements.
- Monitor social media and trade sources to identify new opportunities, including fleet expansions, new depots, new contracts and changes of personnel.
- Build and maintain a target list of prospective clients across the relevant sectors.
Outbound Calling & Appointment Setting Responsibilities
- Make outbound calls to prospective clients to introduce CHS and establish their accident repair requirements.
- Follow up by email and LinkedIn to support telephone activity.
- Qualify opportunities against agreed criteria before passing them to the sales team.
- Book qualified appointments into the diaries of the Sales Director and Sales Executive.
- Confirm all appointments in writing and provide the relevant salesperson with prospect information in advance.
- Manage cancellations, rescheduling and no-shows, and rebook where required.
- Follow up professionally and persistently on prospects who are not yet ready to meet.
- Handle initial questions and objections and represent CHS accurately and professionally at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of all prospects, contacts, calls, activity and outcomes on internal systems and CRM.
- Ensure there is no duplication of contact across the sales team and no lapsed follow-ups.
- Handle all personal data in line with UK GDPR requirements.
- Report weekly on calls made, prospects researched, and appointments booked and attended.
- Provide feedback on which sectors and approaches are working in order to improve targeting.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Telesales Executive, Telemarketing Executive, Lead Generation Executive, Appointment Setter, Sales Development Representative (SDR) or within a similar outbound telephone role.
- Experience within a business to business telephone sales, lead generation or appointment setting environment.
- Experience within the automotive, commercial vehicle, HGV, truck, trailer, transport, logistics, fleet or insurance industry would be advantageous.
- A confident telephone manner and the ability to speak with senior decision makers.
- Strong online and social media research skills, particularly LinkedIn.
- Experience identifying and sourcing accurate business contact information.
- Good communication, written English and relationship-building skills.
- Resilience and the ability to remain positive and professional when handling rejection.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage your own workload.
- Good computer and administrative skills, including Excel or Google Sheets.
- Experience using a CRM system such as HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive would be advantageous.
- A reliable, professional and customer-focused approach.
- The ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
