Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people in West Lothian?
Aid & Abet is part of a new project in West Lothian to provide a mentoring service to support young people aged 10 – 25 who are at risk of, or involved in, offending and anti-social behaviour, helping them engage positively with the project. The project offers mentoring to help them build confidence, develop skills, and make better choices. You will work as part of a multi-agency team, supporting young people by helping them overcome challenges and stay engaged in their personal development and learning.
Drawing on your lived experience of the criminal justice system, you bring a unique capacity to establish trust, demonstrate positive role modelling, and offer a compassionate, non-judgemental source of hope to inspire young people towards better choices and a positive path forward.
As the Mentoring Volunteer Coordinator, you will recruit, train, organise, and support volunteer mentors with lived experience. You will ensure mentors are prepared and supported to work effectively with young people. This includes coordinating 2:1 mentoring sessions, facilitating group work, and delivering targeted presentations in schools. Through ongoing training, supervision, and support, you will ensure mentors are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to deliver the project’s services effectively. When volunteers are unavailable or capacity is limited, you will step in to deliver support directly.
You will also lead on data collection and analysis of project data to inform evaluation reports. Sharing best practice and strengthening communication for young people across the project.
