Full job description

Role Purpose

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and experienced Senior Food & Beverage Operations Supervisor to play a key role in delivering exceptional visitor experiences across Discovery Point and Verdant Works.

This is a hands-on operational role, predominantly supporting our Conference & Events business while providing and support across our café operations during quieter periods. You will oversee the delivery of everything from small corporate meetings to large-scale events, ensuring every guest receives outstanding service.

Working closely with our Commercial Sales Team, you will act as the operational link between the sales process and event delivery, ensuring every detail is communicated effectively and executed to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

Conference & Events

Lead the operational delivery of conferences, weddings, dinners, private functions, corporate events and special occasions across both venues.
Set up and prepare event spaces to agreed specifications, ensuring presentation standards are exceptional.
Coordinate room layouts, furniture, AV requirements and catering requirements.
Liaise with clients on the day of their event, providing a warm, professional and solutions-focused service.
Work closely with the Commercial Sales Team to ensure event briefs are communicated accurately and delivered seamlessly.
Ensure all operational requirements are met, identifying and resolving issues before they impact the guest experience.
Take responsibility for event breakdowns and ensure venues are returned to operational standards.

Food & Beverage Operations

Support the day-to-day operation of our cafés at Discovery Point and Verdant Works as required.
Lead shifts, ensuring excellent customer service, food quality and presentation standards.
Support stock management, ordering and waste reduction.
Ensure compliance with all food hygiene, licensing and health & safety legislation.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation across all food and beverage areas.

Leadership

Lead, coach and motivate front-of-house Food & Beverage teams.
Support the induction, training and ongoing development of team members.
Create a positive, supportive and high-performing team culture.
Lead by example, maintaining high standards of professionalism and customer service.
Assist with rota planning and staffing requirements to meet business demands.

Planning & Organisation

Act as the operational conduit between the Commercial Sales Team and front-line operational teams.
Review function sheets and event schedules, ensuring all departments are fully briefed.
Coordinate staffing, equipment and operational resources to deliver successful events.
Monitor event performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and guest satisfaction.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, licensing conditions and company policies.
Complete operational checks and risk assessments where required.
Ensure safe working practices are followed by all team members.

About You

You will be an energetic and organised hospitality professional who enjoys delivering memorable experiences and supporting others to succeed.

Essential Experience

Previous experience supervising food and beverage or hospitality operations.
Experience delivering conferences, weddings, banquets or large-scale events.
Experience setting up meeting rooms and event spaces.
Experience coaching, mentoring and developing team members.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure.
Flexible approach to working evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to exceptional customer service.

Desirable

Personal Licence Holder (or willingness to obtain one).
Food Hygiene Certificate.
First Aid qualification.
Experience working within a hotel or events venue.

Deliver exceptional guest experiences across every event.
Ensure conferences and events run smoothly from set-up through to completion.
Build strong working relationships with the Commercial Sales Team and operational departments.
Develop confident, engaged and high-performing Food & Beverage teams.
Support revenue growth by consistently delivering high-quality hospitality experiences.
Help establish Discovery Point and Verdant Works as leading venues for conferences, events and hospitality in Dundee.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, enjoys leading teams, and takes pride in delivering outstanding events and memorable visitor experiences. This role is 28 hours per week.
