Coach / Minibus Driver – Job Role Summary

We are seeking a reliable, professional, and safety-conscious Coach / Minibus Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting passengers safely, comfortably, and efficiently while delivering excellent customer service.

This role requires a valid D1 or Category D driving licence and a strong understanding of road safety, passenger welfare, and vehicle responsibility. Applicants with a minimum of 2 years’ professional driving experience are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Safely transport passengers to and from designated locations in line with scheduled routes and timings.
Conduct vehicle safety inspections before and after journeys, ensuring the coach/minibus is roadworthy and clean.
Ensure the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of passengers at all times.
Follow all traffic laws, transport regulations, and company procedures.
Assist passengers when required, including elderly or vulnerable passengers where applicable.
Maintain accurate records of routes, mileage, fuel usage, defects, and incidents.
Communicate professionally with passengers, schools, clients, transport coordinators, and management.
Handle unexpected delays, traffic issues, or route changes calmly and professionally.
Report vehicle faults, accidents, incidents, or maintenance concerns promptly.
Keep the vehicle clean, presentable, and ready for service.

Essential Requirements

Full UK Category D1 or D driving licence (valid and in good standing).
Valid Driver CPC qualification (if required for the role/commercial operation).
Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and safe driving practices.
Excellent timekeeping and reliability.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
Flexible approach to working hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or split shifts if required.
Right to work in the UK.

Preferred Experience

Minimum 2 years’ experience driving a coach, minibus, or passenger transport vehicle preferred.
Experience transporting passengers in sectors such as schools, private hire, corporate transport, tourism, or community transport.
Familiarity with local and regional routes.

Desirable Qualifications / Skills

Enhanced DBS check (particularly for school or vulnerable passenger transport).
Experience with wheelchair access or passenger assistance.
Good geographical knowledge and route planning skills.
Strong customer-facing experience.
Basic vehicle maintenance awareness.
