About us The Wood & Good is a specialist timber trading business supplying oak and hardwood products — solid wood panels, stair parts, flooring, decking, tabletops and kiln-dried firewood — to buyers across the UK and Europe. We’re a lean, fast-moving operation building out our UK presence, and we’re looking for one genuinely capable person to become the engine behind our UK sales team. The role in one line You’ll map the entire UK timber industry, get its businesses talking to you, and hand our salespeople a clean pipeline of qualified, ready-to-meet prospects. What you’ll actually do This is part detective, part people-person, part data-builder. Day to day you’ll: Build the market map. Using AI tools, Companies House and company websites, compile a comprehensive database of every UK business connected to timber — joineries, carpentries, sawmills, furniture makers, factories, garden centres, timber merchants and more. Segment it geographically. Organise companies by region and postcode so the sales team can plan efficient routes and visits. Verify and enrich by phone. Call companies to confirm they’re active and trading, check that what they actually do matches their website, and fill in the gaps — phone numbers, emails, websites, VAT numbers and the right contacts. Profile and tag. Record what each company buys and sells, rough volumes, headcount, product categories and any other intelligence worth knowing. Own the CRM. Keep everything clean, current and accessible, and stay in close contact with the salespeople so they always know what’s in the pipeline. Book the meetings. Arrange appointments with prospects and drop them straight into the salespeople’s calendars, with all the logistics they need. Generate hot leads (and close simple ones). For our standard, price-listed products like firewood, spot the companies ready to buy now — qualify them, warm them up, and where you can, progress straightforward deals yourself — all of which counts towards your bonus. A little light admin (~5% of the role) — the odd practical task like sorting a hire car. Nothing heavy. Who we’re looking for We’re happy to trade some structure for the right person, but we need someone genuinely excellent: A natural on the phone. Warm, personable and engaging — the kind of person who builds instant rapport, has a laugh with people, and gets them opening up about their business. This is the single most important quality. Confident reaching out cold and turning a first call into a real conversation. Comfortable and skilled with AI tools — central to how you’ll build and enrich the database, so you genuinely know your way around them. Capable and professional, ideally with a strong track record in a previous role — someone who takes ownership and doesn’t need hand holding. Organised and data-disciplined, happy living in a CRM and keeping information accurate. Native UK English and self-motivated working independently from home. Hours, flexibility and pay Fully remote — work from home, with the occasional in-person catch-up with us. Flexible, school-friendly hours — build your day around the school run if that suits you (roughly 10–2), managing your own time. £13 per hour, paid monthly based on hours worked — equivalent to around £25,000 full-time. One performance bonus worth up to £10,000 per year (roughly £5/hour) — rewarding your overall performance, the leads you generate and the hot leads you convert, all in one. The more you bring in, the more you earn. We pay all taxes and do everything properly and above board
