Location: Blackdown Garden Centre
Hours: Full-time, 42.5 hours per week, including alternate weekends
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

The Role
As Hardy Plants Department Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the hardy plants department, from stock selection and plant care to visual merchandising and team leadership. You will combine your horticultural knowledge with retail expertise to drive sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales & Profitability: Maximise sales through effective stock management and planning.
- Plant Quality & Care: Maintain high standards of plant health, presentation, and seasonal planning.
- Visual Merchandising: Create inspiring displays that engage customers and elevate the shopping experience.
- Team Leadership: Motivate, train, and manage your team to deliver outstanding service.
- Operations: Ensure high standards of housekeeping, health & safety, and stock control.
- Customer Engagement: Provide expert advice to help customers select and care for plants.
- Commercial Awareness: Monitor trends, recognise opportunities, and adapt merchandising for maximum performance.
About You
- Experience in garden centre or horticultural retail management, ideally with hardy plants, perennials, shrubs, and trees.
- Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills to interpret sales data and forecast trends.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills to inspire your team.
- Creative with an eye for detail in merchandising and presentation.
- Adaptable and solution-focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Genuine passion for plants and a customer-focused approach to retail.
