Gemini Worktops is a leading manufacturing organisation with a long history of developing innovative, high-quality products for a range of clients.
We have a highly innovative and creative culture. The successful candidate will be passionate about their career, ambitious to be part of a successful team, and driven to keep improving the business.
We are looking for a highly motivated CAD Drawing Technician to support the Right First Time ethos of the Company and address any concerns or issues prior to drawings being released to manufacturing.
CAD Drawing Technician – Worktops / Manufacturing - Permanent - up to £32, 000 per year - Monday to Friday, 40 hours between 08:00 – 17:00, based at the Company premises.
About the role
The CAD Drawing Technician is the quality checkpoint between on-site templating and manufacturing. Rather than producing drawings from scratch, this role reviews the CAD drawings submitted by templaters, checks them for accuracy against the template and customer specification, and makes the amendments needed – including changes requested by customers – before a drawing is released to production. Working closely with the Technical team leader and the wider technical team, the role protects Right First Time (RFT) performance by catching and correcting errors before they ever reach the factory floor.
Responsibilities
- Check submitted drawings. Review CAD drawings submitted by templaters against the site template and customer order for accuracy and completeness.
- Make the amendments. Update drawings to reflect customer-requested changes – using company-specified CAD packages.
- Catch what's missing. Spot gaps, inconsistencies or errors in a submitted drawing, correcting them directly or sending them back to the templater for clarification where needed.
- Keep it moving. Prioritise and process incoming drawings so checked, amended drawings are released within agreed turnaround times.
- Be the last check before production. Confirm every drawing is accurate against the template and specification before it's released to manufacturing.
- Catch problems early. Identify discrepancies between the submitted drawing and the site template or customer order.
- Liaise with templaters. Go back to the templater directly where a submitted drawing needs clarification or doesn't match the original order.
- Be the technical point of contact. Answer technical queries from manufacturing, sales and customer teams on drawings and specifications.
- Follow the SOPs. Process and file technical documentation in line with company standard operating procedures.
- Support the wider team. Take on general administrative duties for the technical team as required.
