Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Operative to join our team on a full-time basis, working 35 hours per week over 5 days.

The role is based at Paxton Hall Care Home, and the candidate will be provided with a handover from the outgoing Handyman who is now retiring.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in general upkeep and electrical maintenance, with experience maintenance activities of a care home. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a proactive approach to facilities management, ensuring the smooth operation of our premises through effective troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Candidates should have excellent communication skills in English and demonstrate a commitment to high standards of safety and customer service.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems to ensure operational efficiency.
Be good and efficient in painting and decorating and have high attention to detail
Supervise maintenance tasks carried out by team members or contractors, ensuring safety standards are met.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for compliance purposes.
Ensure all work areas are kept clean, safe, and organised in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests from manager and estates manager

Requirements

Proven experience in decorating, electrical and plumbing general maintenance tasks.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to carry out their role effectively.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to safety protocols.
A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
