About Us:
We are a busy and well-established contractor based in Glasgow, specialising in demolition, structural alterations, construction works. With our current Working Foreman scaling back toward retirement, we are seeking a hands-on and experienced individual to take over the leadership of our construction and structural team.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will lead a small, skilled team on-site and be actively involved in delivering a range of construction works. These include concrete foundations and slabs, drainage, fencing, and structural alterations (e.g. slappings and propping works). This is a hands-on role requiring excellent trade skills alongside leadership and site coordination abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and work alongside a small team to deliver construction and structural projects to a high standard
- Oversee setting out, excavation, formwork, concrete pours, and drainage installations
- Manage and participate in fencing works, foundation preparation, and structural modifications (e.g. installing steel beams, propping, slappings)
- Ensure compliance with method statements, risk assessments, and health & safety legislation
- Coordinate materials, plant, and subcontractors on site
- Liaise with management and clients, provide progress updates, and maintain site records
- Conduct site briefings, toolbox talks, and inductions as needed
Requirements:
- Proven hands-on experience in groundworks and structural/construction site leadership
- Strong knowledge of concrete work, drainage systems, fencing, and structural modifications
- SSSTS or SMSTS (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid CSCS Card (preferably Gold or Supervisor level)
- First-class understanding of health and safety on-site
- Capable of reading and working from technical drawings
- Full UK driving licence
