Assistant Restaurant Manager – The Wig & Gown
Bishop’s Gate Hotel, Derry
Full-Time | Permanent

As part of the Bishop’s Gate Hotel team, you will take a leading role within our Food & Beverage department, managing The Wig & Gown Restaurant while working closely with our Wig Bar & Lounge and Banqueting operations for weddings and private events. This is a varied and hands-on management role where exceptional service, strong leadership and operational excellence are at the heart of everything you do.

The Role:

Working closely with the Food & Beverage Management team, your main duties will include:

Working with the Restaurant Manager to oversee The Wig & Gown Restaurant, ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day operations.
Leading service across the Wig & Gown Restaurant, and Beverage service within the hotel.
Delivering exceptional service standards, with a strong emphasis on outstanding customer experience.
Work closely with our Executive & Head Chef to create seasonal menus.
Preparing and managing staff rotas in line with business needs and budgets.
Managing holiday requests and ensuring appropriate staffing levels at all times.
Ensuring effective communication across the entire Food & Beverage team and between different service areas.
Leading, motivating and inspiring the team to deliver customer-focused and sales-driven service.
Recruitment, onboarding and induction of new Food & Beverage team members.
Completing regular performance reviews, supporting individual development and addressing performance where required.
Training and developing Food & Beverage staff to achieve high standards of performance and consistency.
Maintaining excellent standards of presentation, compliance, stock control and service delivery.

Under the leadership of our senior management team, you will play a vital role in our small and friendly team, building on your existing management experience while enjoying the variety and pace of a premium hospitality environment.

About You:

You will be an enthusiastic, organised and motivated leader who enjoys working collaboratively and takes pride in contributing to the continued success of Bishop’s Gate Hotel.

Essential Criteria:

Previous relevant experience in a Restaurant Manager or Assistant Restaurant Manager role within a hospitality environment.
Demonstrable experience of delivering outstanding customer service.
Proven people management experience, including rota planning and staff development.
Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
A hands-on, proactive approach with a passion for food, beverage and guest experience.
