Whether it’s a challenge to engage with education, gain work experience or even just get out and about in the community, our young people have faced barriers that leave them feeling discouraged and disconnected from society. At Fresh Start in Education, we’re looking for a proactive, person-centred person to design and deliver personalised learning sessions that spark confidence and a sense of hope for a young adult in the Folkestone area. Whether it’s building on the student's love of cooking, exploring opportunities for future employment, planning and delivering Functional Skills or ASDAN courses, or supporting with every day life skills, you’ll help the student build resilience and explore their next steps. This role is available to start now or in September 2026.
With allowances for travel and resources and full support from our dedicated team, this flexible role gives you the freedom to deliver learning in the ways that you feel best meet the student’s needs and interests. Working 1:1 with a young adult in their home and community in the Folkestone area
- Planning and delivering personalised sessions that reflect the student’s needs, interests and abilities
- Running 3 hour sessions 3 days a week, 1pm - 4pm, from now or from September 2026
- Conducting risk assessments and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed
- Engaging with students who may have ASD, PDA, OCD, sensory or SEMH needs and helping them achieve outcomes at their pace
- Working flexibly as part of a compassionate, expert-led team that values you and your skills
We welcome applications from individuals who have:
- Experience (at least 1 year) as mentors, teachers, tutors, teaching assistants and SEN specialists who have directly supported young people with SEN/SEMH needs, particularly those with a PDA profile
- A background delivering Functional Skills (English & Maths), AQA, ASDAN or Post 16 environments
- Availability 3 afternoons a week, 1pm - 4pm
- An up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection

£25–£35 per hour, depending on experience
- Travel subsidy and £15 per session resource allowance

- Bank staff role (PAYE), offering both short-term and long-term placements
