Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our caring team at a reputable care home. In this vital role, you will support the kitchen operations by assisting with meal preparation, food safety, and serving residents with kindness and professionalism. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel valued and well-cared for. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills while making a positive impact on our residents’ daily lives.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation and meal assembly, ensuring all dishes meet quality standards and dietary requirements
Support the kitchen team in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in line with food safety regulations
Help with the safe handling, storage, and rotation of ingredients to prevent waste and ensure freshness
Serve meals to residents in a friendly, respectful manner, promoting dignity and independence
Follow all health and safety procedures during food handling and kitchen operations
Support with basic catering tasks for special events or activities within the care home
Contribute to maintaining an organized kitchen environment by cleaning utensils, equipment, and work surfaces regularly

Skills

Previous experience in catering or cooking, ideally within a restaurant or care home setting
Strong knowledge of food preparation, meal assembly, and food safety practices
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail
Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and interact politely with residents
Basic understanding of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
A proactive attitude towards cleanliness, safety, and resident satisfaction
Willingness to learn new culinary skills and adhere to health regulations
