Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Yard Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with materials handling, loading and unloading goods, and maintaining a safe and organised yard environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience or mechanical knowledge to develop their skills within a dynamic setting. The Yard Worker will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of our logistics and storage activities.

Responsibilities

Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment, including forklifts
Assist with shipping and receiving operations to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods
Handle materials safely, adhering to health and safety regulations
Operate warehouse management systems to track inventory movements
Conduct routine inspections of yard equipment and report any maintenance issues
Support with general yard organisation, including stacking, sorting, and cleaning
Assist with construction-related tasks as needed, demonstrating mechanical aptitude
Perform heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently during daily operations
Maintain accurate records of materials handled and stored
Follow all safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment

Qualifications

Previous warehouse experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Valid forklift licence is highly desirable
Mechanical knowledge or experience in construction is advantageous
Familiarity with warehouse management systems is beneficial
Ability to handle heavy lifting safely and effectively
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Physical fitness to perform manual tasks throughout the shift
Strong commitment to safety standards and procedures

This role offers a hands-on working environment suitable for motivated individuals eager to contribute to efficient yard operations while developing their skills within the logistics sector.

Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
