We are looking for an experienced and motivated Administration Team Leader to join our friendly, busy training GP practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational and leadership skills to support our administrative team and help deliver high-quality patient care.

Job description- Admin Team Leader

Poundbury Doctors Surgery is a friendly and busy training GP practice located in Poundbury. We are looking for an approachable, organised and enthusiastic Administration Team Leader to join our team for 30 hours per week. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational and leadership skills to lead our administrative team and help deliver high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will report directly to the Practice Manager and will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day running of the administration department. The role requires excellent communication and organisational skills, along with the ability to motivate and support a busy team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead, motivate and support the administrative team.
Oversee the day-to-day running of the administration department.
Monitor workflow, ensuring tasks are prioritised and completed efficiently.
Manage referrals, patient records and administrative processes.
Develop and improve administrative systems and procedures.
Coordinate staff rotas, annual leave and sickness cover.
Deliver induction, training and ongoing support to team members.
Conduct performance reviews and support staff development.
Assist with recruitment and onboarding.
Ensure compliance with NHS guidance, GDPR and practice policies.
Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses and the wider management team.

Working Hours

This is an on-site role based at Poundbury Doctors Surgery. The successful candidate will work 30 hours per week across our opening hours of 8:00am–6:30pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility to provide additional cover during periods of annual leave or sickness is desirable.

Required Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
Strong IT and digital system skills, including the ability to manage clinical and administrative software systems.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy environment.
Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection.

Desirable Skills

Experience working in Primary Care or General Practice.
Previous management experience.
Knowledge of SystmOne.
Understanding of NHS contractual requirements and referral pathways.
