Are you organised, proactive, and keen to play a vital role in delivering high‑quality patient care? We are looking for an Ultrasound Department Assistant (UDA) to join our friendly and supportive ultrasound team at the Royal United Hospitals Bath and District Hospitals.
In this role, you’ll work closely with sonographers and the wider multidisciplinary team, helping to ensure the smooth running of the ultrasound service and a positive experience for patients. You’ll carry out your duties in line with departmental protocols, contributing to a safe, efficient, and high‑quality diagnostic service.

1. To provide an efficient and effective service to both patients and other staff, whilst maintaining a high standard of patient care.
2. To be able to explain examinations to patients offering reassurance.
3. Co-ordination with portering staff.
4. Good communication and liaison with other healthcare staff, wards and departments to ensure efficient running of U/S sessions, in a courteous and helpful manner at all times.
5. Maintaining a clean, prepared environment for the patient including changing of linen and maintaining stocks and supplies when required.
6. Undertaking any administrative and clerical duties (including covering reception when required), including data entry on the radiology system (Soliton and BadgerNet) for patient examinations, locating and retrieving patient’s images as required. Training will be given for the computer system.
7. Travel will be required to undertake duties at the community-based ultrasound units (driving preferable).
8. To be responsible for ensuring a high standard of cleanliness of the environment and equipment is maintained.
9. To adhere to Infection Control guidelines during procedures involving bodily fluids.
10. Maintain a clean, prepared environment for the patient including changing of linen and maintaining stocks and supplies when required.
11. To maintain patient dignity and confidentiality.
12. To have a flexible approach to working and to participate in duties evenings and weekends.
