Job Title: Retail Associate and Visual Merchandiser

Location: Oxford Street, London

Start Date: July 2026

Employment Type: Part-time and Shift-based (including weekends)

Salary: £12.71 gross per annum

About Tales House London:

TALES House London is a curated, multi-brand experiential retail space by Bellafricana, located on Oxford Street. The space brings together a rotating selection of African and diaspora brands across fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and creative industries.

More than a traditional retail store, TALES House is designed as a storytelling and discovery space where customers engage with products, people, culture, and experiences in an immersive and memorable way. The space combines retail, community, content, and culture to create a unique in-person and digital brand experience.

The space operates 7 days a week (approx. 10 am–8 pm) with a small, close-knit team.

Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate, customer-focused, and detail-oriented Retail Associate & Visual Merchandiser to join our team. This role combines exceptional customer engagement with strong visual merchandising skills to ensure customers enjoy a memorable shopping experience while the store remains visually appealing, organised, and commercially effective.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering outstanding customer service, supporting sales growth, maintaining store presentation standards, and creating visually compelling product displays that inspire customers and drive purchases.

Responsibilities

Customer Experience & Brand Engagement
Welcome and engage customers in a warm, professional, and memorable manner.

Visual Merchandising

Maintain attractive and commercially effective product displays throughout the store.
Ensure products are presented in accordance with brand and merchandising guidelines.
Refresh displays regularly to reflect promotions, campaigns, new arrivals, and seasonal themes.
Monitor store presentation to ensure a consistently high visual standard.
Support window displays, feature areas, and in-store brand activations.
Ensure pricing, signage, and product information are accurate and professionally displayed.

Retail Operations & Inventory

Assist with stock receiving, replenishment, tagging, and inventory organisation.
Conduct regular stock checks and support inventory accuracy.
Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and operational readiness of the store.
Support opening and closing procedures as required.
Assist with in-store events, pop-ups, activations, and promotional campaigns.

Team Collaboration

Work closely with the Retail Team Lead and wider team to achieve business objectives.
Contribute ideas for improving customer experience, store presentation, and sales performance.
Act as a positive ambassador for TALES House London and Bellafricana.
Build strong customer relationships through excellent service and product knowledge.
Communicate the stories, values, and unique selling points of featured brands.
Assist customers with product selection and purchasing decisions.
Support sales activities and contribute to achieving store sales targets.
Handle customer enquiries and resolve issues professionally.

Qualifications

Previous experience in retail, customer service, visual merchandising, fashion retail, or a related customer-facing role.
Experience creating and maintaining product displays and visual merchandising standards.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Customer-focused with a passion for delivering exceptional experiences.
Good understanding of retail presentation, product placement, and customer behaviour.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
Comfortable working flexible shifts, including weekends.
Interest in fashion, lifestyle, beauty, culture, or creative brands.
