Overview
We are seeking a skilled Water Mains Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and Installing water mains, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the water distribution system. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with various tools, and the ability to work safely in a challenging environment. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in infrastructure maintenance and public service.

Duties

Operate heavy machinery such as excavators to access underground water mains for repair or installation.
Conduct excavation work safely, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Perform welding tasks for pipe repairs and joint fittings, ensuring secure and durable connections.
Use hand tools and power tools to repair, replace, or install water mains and associated infrastructure.
Carry out routine inspections of water distribution systems to identify leaks or potential issues.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including repairs, replacements, and inspections.
Ensure all work complies with relevant safety standards and environmental regulations.

Skills

Proven experience operating excavators and other heavy machinery.
Proficiency in welding techniques suitable for pipework repairs.
Strong knowledge of hand tools and power tools used in infrastructure maintenance.
Mechanical knowledge related to water systems, pumps, valves, and piping.
Electrical experience is advantageous for working on control panels or pump stations.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
Good organisational skills with attention to detail and safety protocols.
Physical fitness to perform manual tasks in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions. This role is vital in maintaining the integrity of our water supply network, requiring a dedicated professional with technical expertise and a commitment to safety.

Pay: £150.00-£250.00 per day
