About Us
The Green Rooms is a growing company designing and building 100% bespoke garden rooms across Surrey and the surrounding areas. Every project is custom-built to suit the client’s lifestyle, and we pride ourselves on high-quality workmanship, attention to detail, and a professional, friendly service.
We use SIPs, Structural Insulated Panels, as part of our build system, and our projects include everything from garden offices and studios to gyms, entertainment spaces, and golf simulator rooms.
We’re now looking for a keen, hands-on person to join our team as a Junior Garden Room Installer / Trainee Carpenter.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is newly qualified, entry-level, or has strong practical skills and wants to build a proper career in carpentry and bespoke construction.
About the Role
You will work directly under one of our experienced installers and be involved in every aspect of the garden room build process. This is not a labouring job. Labouring and site duties are shared across the whole team, and you will be trained properly while getting stuck into real carpentry and installation work from day one.
You’ll be joining a friendly, professional, young team of carpenters who take pride in their work and enjoy what they do.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Working closely with an experienced installer and learning the full garden room build process
- Helping with the installation of SIPs, timberwork, cladding, doors, windows, flooring, roofing and finishing details
- Learning how to work to a high standard across all stages of a bespoke garden room build
- Using hand tools and power tools safely and correctly
- Measuring, cutting, fixing, fitting and assisting with detailed carpentry tasks
- Keeping the site clean, tidy and organised
- Helping with lifting, carrying and moving materials as part of the team
- Building your skills week by week with hands-on training and guidance
What We’re Looking For
We’re not necessarily looking for a fully qualified carpenter. The right attitude is more important.
You should be:
- Practical, hands-on and eager to learn
- Comfortable using basic tools
- Able to use a tape measure accurately
- Interested in carpentry, construction and working outdoors
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Willing to listen, learn and take pride in your work
- Physically fit and happy to get stuck in as part of a team
- Respectful, professional and good with clients when on site
Some previous carpentry, site work, college training or hands-on experience would be helpful, but full training will be given to the right person.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Own transport
- Strong work ethic
- Good attitude
- Basic carpentry or hands-on practical ability
What You’ll Get
- Full on-the-job training
- The chance to learn directly from skilled installers and carpenters
- A clear route to becoming a more skilled and valuable member of the team
- Paid holiday

- Varied, interesting work on bespoke projects
- A friendly and supportive team environment
- Long-term opportunities to grow as the company expands
