Removal Company Surveyor – Job Description
We are looking for a professional, reliable, and experienced Removal Surveyor to join our team and help customers plan their move from start to finish.
The Surveyor will be responsible for visiting customers at their homes or businesses, assessing the move requirements, accurately recording the items to be moved, identifying any potential challenges, and preparing professional and accurate quotations.
This is a customer-facing and commercially important role, so we are looking for someone who is confident, organised, detail-oriented, and excellent at building trust with customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out professional home and business removal surveys.
- Visit customers at their property and assess the full scope of the move.
- Complete detailed inventories of furniture, personal belongings, equipment, and other items requiring removal.
- Accurately assess the volume of goods and the resources required for the move.
- Identify items requiring specialist handling, packing, dismantling, protection, or additional care.
- Assess access at both collection and delivery addresses.
- Identify potential issues such as:
- Narrow roads or restricted access.
- Parking restrictions.
- Stairs and difficult access.
- Lifts and unusual access requirements.
- Long carries.
- Restricted delivery locations.
- Fragile or valuable items.
- Large or awkward furniture.
- Items requiring dismantling or reassembly.
- Packing requirements.
- Storage requirements.
- Take accurate measurements and photographs where required.
- Identify any potential risks or complications before the moving day.
- Prepare accurate and commercially viable quotations.
- Explain the quotation and proposed removal service clearly to customers.
- Answer customer questions and provide professional advice throughout the quotation process.
- Follow up quotations and enquiries professionally.
- Build strong relationships with customers and convert enquiries into confirmed bookings.
- Communicate clearly with the operations and removals teams.
- Ensure all relevant information is accurately passed to the moving team before the job.
- Maintain accurate records of surveys, quotations, customer requirements, and follow-ups.
- Ensure customers understand what is included and excluded from their quotation.
- Identify opportunities for additional services such as packing, storage, dismantling/reassembly, and specialist removals.
- Represent the company professionally at all times.
Customer Service
The Surveyor will often be one of the first people from the company that a customer meets in person, so professionalism and presentation are extremely important.
