Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Manager to oversee the maintenance and repair of our fleet of coaches, buses, and minibuses. This is a hands-on role requiring strong mechanical knowledge and diagnostic skills, together with the ability to organise workshop activities and lead a team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and reliability while supporting the day-to-day running of the workshop.

Responsibilities

Carry out servicing, inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on coaches, buses, minibuses, and other fleet vehicles.
Lead by example as a senior mechanic while supervising workshop staff.
Plan and allocate daily workshop activities to ensure efficient fleet maintenance.
Ensure all vehicles meet DVSA standards and Operator Licence requirements.
Monitor vehicle defects and ensure repairs are completed promptly.
Prepare vehicles for MOTs, inspections, and compliance audits.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and workshop documentation.
Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety within the workshop.
Work closely with operations teams to maximise vehicle availability and minimise downtime.

Essential Requirements

Proven experience maintaining and repairing PSV vehicles, coaches, buses, minibuses, or commercial vehicle fleets.
Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, and repair skills.
Previous supervisory experience or the ability and desire to progress into a workshop management role.
Good understanding of DVSA regulations, maintenance planning, and vehicle compliance.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Full UK driving licence.
