Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to oversee and coordinate engineering and maintenance activities. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys leading from the front, remaining actively involved in maintenance, fault finding, repairs, projects and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise the activities of maintenance engineers, allocating work, setting priorities and ensuring timely completion, whilst contributing with a hands on approach.
- Plan, control and carry out PPM and scheduled tasks, in addition to proactive and reactive maintenance tasks.
- Act a point of contact and decision maker for breakdowns and project work.
- Lead on the monitoring, inspecting, maintaining, fault finding and repair of factory equipment and machinery, including pumps, gearboxes, and pneumatics.
- Analyse recurring faults and implement improvements to reduce downtime, whilst identifying opportunities for cost savings and increased efficiency.
- Undertake and oversee electrical fault finding and repairs.
- Undertake and oversee fabrication - guarding and material ducting (spouting).
- Undertake and oversee welding tasks - repairs, making brackets, pipework.
- Delivering engineering projects, such as automation improvements, upgrades, installation and commissioning, and supporting the planning and management of projects as required.
- Improving maintenance team capability and performance through training, mentoring, guidance, feedback and support.
- Maintain and oversee accurate record keeping, supporting effective monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Assist in developing and maintaining safe systems of work, monitoring effectiveness and ensuring compliance with site, safety and hygiene procedures and controls.
Experience
- Maintenance supervisory and practical experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in maintaining industrial machinery.
- Electrical experience including troubleshooting electrical systems and understanding schematics.
- Excellent leadership qualities with the capacity to motivate and develop team members.
- Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently.
What we offer
- Working hours - 43 per week, 7:15am-5:15pm Monday to Thursday, 7:15-3:15pm Friday.
- A competitive salary £55,000-£60,000, depending on experience, plus generous annual discretionary bonus scheme.
