Full job description

Avon Care Homes is looking for a Maintenance Person to join our maintenance team. The role is working on days for 16 hours a week might include some out of hours and weekend work where required.

Job Summary: To keep the environs of the homes maintained to a high standard and in good decorative order.

Role and Responsibilities:

· Undertake all routine maintenance tasks and minor repair work as requested by the Home Manager.

· To check the maintenance request book for tasks to be completed. Set priorities with the Home Manager.

· On a weekly basis undertake the fire alarm tests and the routine check of the fire doors and window restrictors.

· To ensure that routine checks of wheelchairs, reclining chairs and beds are carried out at regular intervals agreed with the Home Manager.

· To take delegated responsibility for emergency lighting tests and carry out visual checks on fire fighting apparatus on a monthly basis.

· Checking of all water temperatures, keeping accurate records as directed.

· Cleaning shower heads and waste traps as directed.

· Water storage tank visual inspection as directed.

· Check temperatures in the boiler house, keeping accurate records.

· Fit shelves and picture hooks in Service Users rooms as requested.

· Assist staff with moving furniture as requested.

· Purchase and collection of consumables after approval from Head Office and the receipt of a purchase order number.

· Undertake running repairs of scuffed paintwork.

· Change light bulbs.

· Ensure that the grounds and car park are free from litter. Ensure bin areas are kept clean and tidy.

· Notifying the Home Manager if a required job falls outside the training/skills of the post holder.

· To work within the COSHH guidelines for all decorating and cleaning products used, wearing appropriate PPE as required.

· Ensure any new products purchased, come with a Data sheet and are filed correctly.

· To be responsible for the health & safety of self, staff and others who may be affected by your acts or omissions.

· Report any potential hazards to the person in charge or take other appropriate action.

· Have an awareness of Company policies and procedures and work accordingly.

· Undertake any other duties or training consistent with the role.

· To undertake such other duties as may be mutually determined from time to time.
