Reporting To: Production Manager / Production Supervisor
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:30pm (45 hours per week)
Are you an experienced Structural Steel Fabricator / MIG-MAG Welder who takes pride in building solid, high-quality steel structures? In this role, you will fabricate, weld and assemble structural steel components for modular buildings in our yard and occasional support their installation on-site across the UK. Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate structural steel: fabricate structural steel components from engineering drawings.
- MIG/MAG welding: carry out high-quality MIG/MAG welding on mild steel sections.
- Assemble steel frames: assemble steel frames for modular buildings.
- Welding & grinding: perform tack welding, final welding and grinding to specification.
- Equipment operation: use fabrication equipment including saws, drills, grinders and hand tools.
- Technical accuracy: interpret fabrication drawings and work to tight tolerances.
- Site installation: assist with the installation and erection of steel-framed modular buildings on site.
- Quality & compliance: ensure all work complies with quality standards and welding procedures.
- Teamwork: work effectively as part of a fabrication and installation team.
- Safety & housekeeping: maintain your dedicated workstation and tools to a high standard, ensure full procedural compliance, and take genuine pride in workshop cleanliness. Strictly follow all company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality systems - this includes wearing correct PPE, participating in briefings, and keeping both the yard and construction sites safe and tidy.
Essential Requirements
· Minimum NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Fabrication & Welding, Structural Steelwork or equivalent
· Valid CSCS Card (or equivalent construction competency card)
· Proven experience in MIG/MAG welding of mild steel
· Experience in fabrication and assembly of structural steelwork
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
· Good understanding of fabrication techniques and workshop machinery
· Full UK Driving License
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
· Coded welding qualifications (advantageous but not essential)
· IPAF and/or PASMA certification
· Telehandler or Forklift License
· Overhead Crane experience
· SSSTS or Site Safety qualification
· Experience within modular construction or off-site manufacturing
· Experience with structural steel erection on construction sites
· Willingness to work away from home when required for site installations (a few times/year)
