Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Bar Shift Leader to oversee daily operations during shifts at our newly opened bar and restaurant. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of food and beverage service, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. This role involves supervising staff, managing inventory, ensuring food safety standards, and maintaining a welcoming environment for guests. The Bar Shift Leader plays a vital role in upholding the quality and efficiency of service while supporting team development and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate bar staff during assigned shifts to ensure smooth operations and high-quality service
Oversee food preparation, beverage service, and overall cleanliness of the bar area
Manage POS systems including Aloha POS and Micros POS for order processing, cash handling, and transaction accuracy
Monitor inventory levels, assist with stock control, and coordinate with suppliers as needed
Ensure compliance with food safety standards and health regulations
Train new staff members on service procedures, POS operation, food handling, and safety protocols
Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints promptly, and ensure guest satisfaction
Assist in managing shift schedules, staffing levels, and operational tasks such as opening or closing procedures
Support kitchen management in coordinating food production for bar menu items or special events
Maintain a clean, organized work environment conducive to efficient service

Experience

Proven experience in food service management within casual dining, fine dining, or hospitality environments
Supervising or team management experience in a restaurant or bar setting
Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS is preferred
Background in food preparation, cooking, or culinary arts highly desirable
Experience with inventory control, budgeting, and food safety standards
Strong leadership skills with the ability to train staff effectively and foster team development
Knowledge of restaurant operations including shift management, customer service excellence, and food handling procedures
Previous experience in hospitality management or hotel/bar environments is advantageous
Demonstrated ability to handle cash transactions accurately and manage multiple priorities efficiently
