Job Introduction
Job title: Phlebotomist
Location: Chelston Hall Surgery, Torquay
Salary: Up to £30,000 depending on experience
Hours: Up to 30 hours a week

Main Responsibilities
As a valued member of the Operose Health team, your key duties will include:

Obtaining blood samples of the appropriate quality, taken with minimal stress to patients, which will help with patients’ diagnosis and treatment.

Accurately labelling samples and preparing them for collection to the pathology department for analysis.

Making appropriate notes in the patient’s record.
-
Taking blood is a special skill, which requires patience and the ability to engage with both adults and children. You need to have a calm approach and to have had experience in a clinical environment and be able to care for people if distressed.
The Ideal Candidate
What we look for in new colleagues:
-
Experience in a Primary Care setting and phlebotomy.

Completed recognised phlebotomist training course.

Excellent patient care and bedside manner, capable of dealing calmly with patients who may feel stressed or nervous in this situation.

Ability to clearly explain procedures to patients.

An understanding of infection control and sterilization practices.
-
Must be familiar with medical procedures and able to follow protocols.
