Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Technician to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure optimal performance and safety. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise a broad range of technical skills within a dynamic environment, supporting the continued efficiency of our fleet. The ideal applicant will possess strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, along with experience in equipment repair and maintenance.

Duties

Conduct comprehensive diagnostics on HGVs using schematics and electrical experience to identify faults.
Perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles, including engine, transmission, braking systems, and suspension components.
Utilise fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly skills to modify or repair vehicle parts as required.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment safely and effectively during repair tasks.
Carry out routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns and prolong vehicle lifespan.
Maintain detailed records of work carried out in accordance with company protocols.
Ensure all work complies with health and safety standards, including heavy lifting procedures.
Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with colleagues and clients regarding vehicle status.

Experience

Proven experience as an HGV Technician or in a similar heavy vehicle maintenance role.
Strong electrical experience combined with mechanical knowledge relevant to heavy goods vehicles.
Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, schematics interpretation, and equipment repair.
Competent in the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialised diagnostic equipment.
Familiarity with maintenance procedures for large vehicles and associated equipment is essential.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail. This role is ideal for a motivated individual eager to apply their technical expertise within a professional environment committed to safety and quality standards.

Pay: Up to £50,830.00 per year
