We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team and take responsibility for the financial management and reporting of our dealership operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional looking to play a key role within a dynamic automotive business.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

Prepare accurate monthly and annual management accounts within agreed deadlines.
Submit financial reports to manufacturers and other stakeholders where required.
Monitor business performance and highlight significant variances in income, expenditure, profitability, and cash flow.
Ensure all financial transactions comply with current legislation and company policies.
Maintain strong financial controls and processes to safeguard company assets.

Accounts & Cash Management

Manage purchase and sales ledger activities.
Ensure timely payment of suppliers, VAT, payroll, taxes, and other liabilities.
Monitor and control debtor balances, ensuring credit is only extended to authorised low-risk customers.
Review outstanding debts and inter-company balances on a regular basis.
Manage company cash flow requirements and report any anticipated deviations from agreed plans.

Payroll & Compliance

Maintain accurate payroll records and support payroll processing.
Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, VAT requirements, and financial reporting standards.
Adhere to GDPR requirements relating to the handling of customer and employee data.
Ensure all financial activities operate within legal and regulatory guidelines.

Team Leadership

Lead, support, and develop the Accounts Administration Team.
Recruit, train, and mentor staff as required.
Set performance objectives and conduct regular reviews.
Maintain appropriate staffing levels to support business operations.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiencies.
Keep up to date with industry trends, accounting standards, and business requirements.
Work collaboratively with departmental managers to support business performance and growth.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

Must have at least 3 years’ experience in a management accounting or dealership accounting role.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, VAT, and payroll.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience preparing monthly management accounts.
Strong leadership and team management experience.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
High levels of integrity, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Automotive industry experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
