Reporting to the Linen Site Manager, you will be required to assist in providing an efficient linen service in a busy environment. Based at Kingston Hospital and covering Royal Surrey Hospital site
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to carry out a variety of duties including:
- Co-ordination of linen stocks and issue in line with agreed times.
- Transferring linen from cages and trolleys on to the shelves in the wards.
- Liaising with ward staff with regard to the service.
- Collecting the used linen and stacking onto cages to be transported.
- Driving an electric vehicle to make deliveries and collections.
- Packing orders into cages and trolleys and accurately booking out.
This is a varied role and you will be involved in all aspects of the linen service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To assist in providing an effective and efficient customer liaison service so that all Synergy customers receive a quality service.
- Ensure that effective communications are maintained between customers and Synergy personnel and that prompt action is taken for service requests or complaints.
- Co-ordinate deliveries and collections from wards.
- Ensure that company policies and procedures are maintained, particularly compliance with the required Health and Safety procedures and guidelines.
- Transfer linen from laundry cages, trolleys to shelves.
- Record information on linen stocks.
- To take a flexible approach to work within the laundry service.
- To participate in staff development and training initiatives.
- To safely operate and monitor machines and equipment (master mover effectively and efficiently.
- To act responsibly when maneuvering cages with linen and be aware of the general public.
- To undertake any other duties or tasks as reasonably required.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Effort
· To adhere to the Company Manual Handling policy and procedure in executing the safe transfer of linen and laundry items around the Trust. This will require moving heavy weights manually and using trolleys/cages on a regular basis.
Mental Effort
· To be able to maintain concentration where the work pattern is predictable for example, maintaining high standards of accuracy when checking the contents of customer requirements.
Emotional Effort
· Exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances is occasional
Working Conditions
· The post entails occasional exposure to highly unpleasant working conditions in that indirect exposure to body fluids is implicit in the role.
PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION
Essential Criteria
Qualifications
- Educated to a good general standard, with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.
- Must hold a valid driver's License and can drive.
Training
- Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development and training

Experience
- Previous experience in laundry services or other service-related industry.
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to carry out instructions accurately.
- Ability to follow procedures.
- Basic end user IT skills to operate linen stock management systems.
