Grounds Maintenance Operative

We are recruiting for a: Grounds Maintenance Operative

Groundwork is looking for dedicated and hardworking Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join our team delivering environmental and landscaping improvements across Redcar & Cleveland.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and wants to make a positive impact in local communities. Working alongside our Grounds Maintenance Supervisor you will help create attractive, safe, and welcoming outdoor spaces for residents.

Job Purpose

About the role
As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you will support the delivery of a wide range of grounds maintenance, horticultural and environmental improvement projects. From landscaping and planting to access maintenance and site improvements, you'll play a vital role in enhancing local neighbourhoods.

This is a practical, hands-on role that involves working outdoors throughout the year in varying weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with environmental improvement and landscaping projects.
Carry out horticultural and grounds maintenance activities.
Support the delivery of planned work programmes within agreed timescales.
Maintain high standards of quality across all tasks.
Safely use and maintain tools, equipment, vehicles and PPE.
Complete vehicle, equipment and PPE checks, reporting any issues promptly.
Keep accurate records, including job sheets, working hours and training activities.
Work positively with colleagues, customers and stakeholders

Enjoys working outdoors and carrying out practical tasks.
Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Can work effectively as part of a team.
Takes health and safety seriously.
Is organised and able to maintain accurate records.
Can deliver high-quality work and take pride in improving local environments.
Is flexible and willing to work outside normal office hours when required.
