Overview
We are seeking a skilled Laser Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating laser cutting equipment to produce precise components from sheet metal and other materials. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a strong understanding of fabrication processes. The Laser Machine Operator will play a vital part in ensuring high-quality production standards are maintained while adhering to safety protocols.
Duties
- Set up and operate laser cutting machinery according to specifications and technical drawings
- Prepare materials, including sheet metal, for processing by measuring and loading into the machine
- Monitor machine operation throughout production runs, making adjustments as necessary for optimal performance
- Conduct routine inspections of finished components for quality and accuracy
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on laser equipment to minimise downtime
- Assist with fabrication tasks such as grinding, welding, and assembly when required
- Use hand tools and tooling to support finishing processes and component assembly
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment in compliance with health and safety standards
- Record production data accurately and report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors
Experience
- Prior experience operating laser cutting or similar fabrication machinery is preferred
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes including grinding, welding, and assembly is advantageous
- Mechanical knowledge related to machinery setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting is desirable
- Familiarity with hand tools, tooling, and basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Experience working with sheet metal components in a manufacturing setting is beneficial
- Previous exposure to fabrication techniques such as welding or grinding will be considered an asset
