About The Organisation

The Role

Supervise an administrative team of secretaries and administrative clerks and to provide a comprehensive administrative support to a team of clinicians, enabling clinicians to operate effectively and efficiently. Ensure the work of the administrative team is carried out in accordance with NHS Lanarkshire’s standard operating procedures. Provide comprehensive administrative support to a team of clinicians, enabling clinicians to operate effectively and efficiently. Work in accordance with standard operating procedures.

In this key role, you will:

Organise staff rotas to ensure that leave is taken in a structured fashion across the team, maintaining an appropriate level of service.
Allocate daily work to ensure a prompt service is maintained
Type dictated clinical letters (discharges, clinic follow up, onward referrals, legal reports etc) and clinical notes. Type meeting minutes when appropriate. Prioritise work to meet agreed service standards.
Organise clinical activity for clinicians and re-arrange activities when required (eg. out-patient clinics, operating lists)

What You'll Bring:

SVQ level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience) plus at least 2 years experience as a medical secretary
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
Evidence of effective team working and dealing with change
Evidence of good communication skills with patients, clinicians and colleagues.
Advanced audio typing skills
