Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painter/Decorator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying paint, varnishes, and other finishes to various surfaces, ensuring high-quality standards are met. This role involves working on a range of projects including residential, commercial, and industrial sites. The ideal applicant will possess a strong background in construction-related trades and be capable of working independently or as part of a team to deliver exceptional results.
Duties
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling holes, plastering, and masking areas to ensure a smooth finish.
- Apply paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Carry out specialised decorating techniques such as wallpapering, textured finishes, and tiling as required.
- Assist with carpentry tasks such as fitting skirting boards or window frames when necessary.
- Work alongside other trades such as roofing, plumbing, masonry, welding, electrical work, and fabrication teams to complete projects efficiently.
- Carry out basic plastering and tiling works, including surface preparation, repairs, and finishing to a high standard.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to meet project requirements.
- Manage materials and tools effectively to minimise waste and ensure timely project completion.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction painting and decorating is essential.
- Knowledge of carpentry, roofing, masonry, welding, tiling, plastering, electrical systems, plumbing or fabrication is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in decorating and related trades.
- Experience working on diverse projects including residential refurbishments, commercial fit-outs or industrial sites.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail to produce precise finishes.
- Relevant qualifications or apprenticeships in painting/decorating or related trades are advantageous but not mandatory.
