SENDCo - Lexden Hall School, Lexden Road, Colchester, Essex, CO3 3NE

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 | Full Time (40 hours/week)

Purpose of Role

To lead and coordinate the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that all pupils receive personalised, high-quality support that enables them to achieve their potential. The SENDCO will champion inclusive practice, work collaboratively with staff and external agencies, and model professional integrity and the EPIC values as outlined in the Staff Code of Conduct.

At Lexden Hall School

Lexden will be shortly opening their doors! This will be a specialist SEMH and Autism provision for pupils across Key Stages 2 to 4, with a focus on those who have experienced school-based trauma, present with EBSNA profiles, or simply need something slightly different to help them reengage with education.

Key Responsibilities

There will be a teaching responsibility as part of this role at 0.5 hours per week; we are open to specialist in Maths, English, Science, or PSHE from functional skills to GCSE
Support with the strategic development of SEND provision in the school
Complete Annual Reviews, Interim reviews and Emergency Reviews of EHCP’s in line with the SEND code of practice
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability
Oversee the looked after pupils within the school
Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
Advise on the use of school’s budget and other resources to meet pupils’ needs effectively, including staff development
Promote inclusion in the school community and access to the curriculum.
Leading and managing staff and the effective deployment of staff and resources
Lead on interventions that will support all pupils
Quality assurance of Teaching and Learning with a focus on SEND provision.
Attend and review PEP meetings

Requirements

Have an accredited SENDCo qualification
QTS/QTLS is a requirement
Are passionate about education and inclusion
Have leadership experience and qualities
Are ready to develop their leadership skills within a school
Can effectively manage the SEND provision in partnership with the Headteacher
