Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis to join our culinary team. The successful candidate will assist in food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills within a professional kitchen environment, supporting the senior chefs in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The position is paid and ideal for individuals with a keen interest in the culinary arts and restaurant operations.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing ingredients and components for various dishes according to recipes and standards.
Support the cooking process by following instructions from senior chefs, ensuring timely and efficient meal preparation.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to food safety regulations at all times.
Help with portioning, plating, and presentation of dishes to meet quality standards.
Ensure all kitchen equipment is used safely and maintained properly.
Follow hygiene protocols, including proper handling of food items and cleaning schedules.
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service hours.

Skills

Experience or familiarity with food preparation and cooking techniques.
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices within a kitchen environment.
Previous restaurant or culinary experience is advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn is key.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
Good organisational skills with attention to detail in meal presentation.
Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
Basic understanding of serving procedures is beneficial but not mandatory.
