Job Purpose:
To support the smooth operation of the Automotive Preparation Centre by carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of the facility and equipment. The Maintenance Operative will ensure the site remains safe, clean, and operational to support vehicle preparation and logistics activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out general building maintenance including minor repairs, painting, basic plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safe condition of workshops, yards, and site facilities.
- Assist with preventative maintenance of equipment, tools, and machinery used within the preparation centre.
- Respond to maintenance requests from supervisors and site management.
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained across the site at all times.
- Conduct basic inspections of facilities, reporting any faults or hazards.
- Support with site setup, organisation, and housekeeping duties.
- Assist external contractors when required.
- Maintain maintenance records and report completed work.
Working Pattern:
This is a zero-hours contract, meaning hours are not guaranteed and will be offered based on business needs. Working days are typically Monday – Friday between 0600-1800.
Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in general maintenance, facilities, or handyman work preferred.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance tasks (painting, minor repairs, basic plumbing or electrical awareness).
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physically capable of carrying out manual tasks.
Qualifications (Desirable)
- Basic maintenance or trade qualification (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, or electrical).
- Health & Safety awareness or training.
- Full UK driving licence (desirable but not essential).

- Strong commitment to site safety and cleanliness.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
Health & Safety:
The Maintenance Operative must comply with all Health & Safety policies, wear appropriate PPE, and report any hazards or incidents immediately.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
