Job Summary
The Dracaena Centre Youth Hub in Falmouth is an established Youth Service working within the Dracaena Centre charity. Our Youth and Family Service works with up to 200 young people and families each week, providing a wide range of activities, groups and wellbeing services, including 1:1 support.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Youth Work Coordinator to join our experienced, friendly, welcoming team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with young people and developing engaging, inclusive opportunities for growth and development.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, coordination, and delivery of high quality, youth led provision for young people aged 11–25.
About the Role
This role combines direct youth work with programme development and coordination. You will:
- Deliver engaging youth sessions
- Support and develop the wider youth team
- Contribute to our strong partnership work and meetings
- Work closely with the Youth Service Programme Manager to strengthen and expand provision
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging youth programmes tailored to diverse groups of young people
- Coordinate activities that promote social skills, personal development, and community involvement
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, offering mentoring support and acting as a strong, positive role model.
- Work collaboratively with schools, community organisations, and families
- Monitor and evaluate programme outcomes to ensure effectiveness
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities, and progress
- Contribute to reports and support funding applications
- Coordinate a programme of term time, holiday, and pop up provision
- Support the development and growth of the youth offer alongside the Youth Service Programme Manager
- Ensure all activities comply with safeguarding and health & safety requirements
- Support the training and development of volunteers and staff
- Promote inclusive practice, adapting activities to meet additional needs (including SEN)
Person Specification Essential
- Relevant qualification in youth work, education, or social care (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working with children and young people in a community, youth, or educational setting
- Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills
- A positive, compassionate, and inclusive approach
- Ability to engage and inspire young people
- Good organisational skills and the ability to plan and deliver activities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Coordination experience
- Experience of office IT systems.
Desirable
- JNC qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
- Mental Health Training
- Trauma Informed Training
- Knowledge of SEND and inclusive practice
- Experience in programme development or community based projects
