Full job description

Location: Cottingham, East Yorkshire
Hours: Part-time – hours to be discussed
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
Reporting to: Office Manager / Director

About the Role

We are looking for an organised and reliable Bookkeeper to join our team in Cottingham.

This is a varied part-time role covering purchase and sales ledger, banking, reconciliations, credit control, expenses, project accounting and general finance and office administration.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day bookkeeping and financial administration of the business, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.

Key Responsibilities

Processing supplier invoices and arranging supplier payments.
Raising sales invoices and monitoring outstanding customer accounts.
Assisting with credit control and customer queries.
Completing bank reconciliations and posting/allocating payments and receipts.
Processing company credit card transactions and employee expenses.
Coding transactions to the nominal ledger and relevant projects.
Setting up and maintaining project accounts and budget information.
Assisting with month-end and year-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
Assisting with VAT returns and other financial reporting.
Maintaining organised financial records and providing general finance and office administration support.

About You

We are looking for someone with previous bookkeeping or accounts experience who is:

Experienced in using Sage 50 or similar accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Organised and able to manage their own workload.
Accurate with excellent attention to detail.
Confident working with numbers.
A good communicator with a professional and approachable manner.
Able to work independently while also being part of a small team.

AAT qualification or relevant bookkeeping experience would be advantageous.
