IMMEDIATE START!

Housing Support Worker

Job Purpose

To provide practical and emotional support to individuals and families experiencing housing difficulties, homelessness, or tenancy-related challenges. The Housing Support Worker will assist service users in maintaining stable accommodation, developing independent living skills, accessing community resources, and improving their overall wellbeing.

Key Responsibilties

Provide person-centred support to service users within their homes, supported accommodation, community settings.
Assist clients in securing and maintaining suitable for accommodation.
Support individuals with tenancy sustainment, including understanding tenancy agreements and housing responsibilities.
Help services users manage rent payments and prevent arrears.
Liaise with landlords, housing associations, local authorities, and other housing provider.

Case Management

Conduct assessments of tenants needs and risks.
Develop, implement, and regularly review support plans.
Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date case records.
Monitor tenant progress against agreed goals and outcomes.
Complete risk assessments and safeguarding documentation were required.

Advocacy and Support

Advocate on behalf of tenants to access housing, benefits, healthcare, education, employment, and community services.
Support tenants with welfare benefit applications and budgeting skills.
encourage independence, confidence, and personal development.
Assist tenants in attending appointments and accessing relevant services.

Safeguarding and Wellbeing

Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
Promote health, safety , and wellbeing of all tenants.
Support individuals with mental health, substance misuse, or other complex needs where appropriate.
Ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures.

Partnership Working

Build effective relationships with external agencies and professionals.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality support services.

Essential Skills and Experience

Experience working with vulnerable individuals, homelessness services, housing support, or related fields.
Knowledge of housing issues, tenancy sustainment, and homelessness prevention.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage a caseload effectively and prioritise workloads.
Strong record-keeping and report-writing skills.
Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable Skills and Experience

Experience working with individuals facing complext needs.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Working Conditions

Combination of office, community, and home visits.
