**This vacancy is open to women only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1)**

About the role:

As a Helpline Practitioner you will provide high-quality telephone support, assistance and information service to those experiencing or at risk of all forms of Domestic Violence and Abuse including Forced Marriage & Honour Based Abuse.

To be the first response to all callers’ survivors, victims and professionals using Coventry’s Safe to Talk Helpline by providing information, a listening ear and help in a manner that is calm, sensitive, empathic and non-judgmental.

You will participate in answering calls responding to those experiencing all forms of Domestic Violence and Abuse including FM, HBV etc. You will need to ensure helpline calls are recorded and completed factually accurate and concise and inputted on the case management system during each shift as per procedure.

You will make referrals to appropriate agencies according to the needs of the caller including women’s refuges/male refuges and other specialist domestic abuse services.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a good knowledge of DVA and Forced Marriage & Honour Based Violence issues and the statutory framework. As well as having experience working with BME communities experiencing domestic violence and experiencing working with Black and Ethnic Minority Communities.

An adaptable and flexible individual who thrives working under pressure, you will have excellent communication skills, fluent in English but also fluent with at least one main BME language.

You would have completed training related to helpline and support work. You will have the ability to organise and prioritise workload and be able to work as part of a team and to use your own initiative

Ideally qualified at degree level, along with other relevant qualification or equivalent experience in work with vulnerable people especially women and children. You will need a clear DBS.
