We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Lead Nurse for E-Rostering and Safe Care - a key role in driving high-quality, efficient rostering practices across the Trust.
As the E-Rostering Lead Nurse, you will lead the day-to-day delivery and development of our E-Rostering system, RL Datix, ensuring that services are supported to achieve effective workforce planning and safe staffing outcomes. You will manage the E-Rostering team, provide expert guidance and training, support system enhancements, and work collaboratively with operational and clinical teams to improve roster quality and workforce utilisation.

You will be responsible for:
Leading the delivery of a high-quality E-Rostering service that supports the achievement of national and local Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Managing and developing the E-Rostering team, ensuring effective workload management and service delivery.
Designing, promoting, and delivering comprehensive E-Rostering training programmes.
Acting as the Trust's expert point of contact for E-Rostering advice, troubleshooting, and system support.
Supporting compliance with the Trust's E-Rostering and Safe staffing policies through regular review of processes and practices.
Analysing rostering activity, workforce demand, and establishment data to identify opportunities for improvement and increased efficiency.
Producing accurate and timely workforce reports, dashboards, and KPI information to support operational decision-making.
Providing workforce data and analysis to Groups, highlighting trends, risks, and establishment concerns.
Conducting data quality audits and supporting system upgrades, developments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Promoting best practice in roster management and supporting managers to maximise workforce utilisation

Job Summary
A high profile, accessible and responsive leader, the role of Lead Nurse for E-Rostering and Safe Care is to strategically lead the safe and sustainable staffing agenda across the Trust working closely with the Associate Director of Nursing for workforce, Deputy Chief nursing officer and other key stakeholders.
The post holder will be required to:
Lead on the strategic development of E-Rostering (electronic rostering) as an instrument to strengthen safer staffing governance for Nursing, Midwifery and AHP colleagues, maintaining and acting as a contact for guidance and support on all aspects of E-Rostering, including, but not limited to, e-job-planning for relevant staff.
Have responsibility for the delivery of the E-Rostering team objectives and oversee quality control.
Work directly with the senior corporate nursing team to deliver on key objectives determined through Carter review meetings and NM and the AHP workforce groups advising the groups on system capability and opportunities.
Lead on compliance and implementation of national guidance and recommendations from NHSE workforce safeguards and NQB guidance.
Lead on the deployment of the Safer Nursing Care Tool (SNCT) through training and quality assessment.
Support operational implementation of workforce safeguards, including the optimisation of the daily review process.
Support and advise Group Directors of Nursing and Matrons with regard to staffing during exceptional circumstances
Leadership and Management
Provide strategic leadership to the non-medical E-Roster team ensuring achievement of agreed key performance indicators (KPIs).
Work with Trust key stakeholders to ensure effective rostering management through the agreed roster approval processes.
Provide expert advice to inform decision making regarding future software procurement.
Monitoring of software licence use in line with procurement requirements.
Provide expertise to the Trust in the use of evidence-based tools such as Safer Nursing Care Tool (SNCT), in the implementation of nursing establishment setting and skill mix reviews.
Ensure an agreed system and process for efficient data collection for acuity and dependency scores to support establishment setting.
Support the training and education of the Safer Nursing Care Tool and SafeCare categories to all inpatient ward areas, emergency departments and community settings to support establishment setting across the trust including the inter-rater reliability assessment process.
Support compliance with national guidance and quality assurance of an effective safe staffing system, such as NQB guidance and Developing Workforce Safeguards.
Ensure that the Safer Nursing Care Tool licence is kept up to date and the use of the tool within the Trust is within the boundaries of the licence.
In close collaboration with the Associate Director of Nursing for Workforce and Group Directors of Nursing, support Carter Reviews, ensuring the process is of a high standard and meaningful for participants.
Work collaboratively across the Trust with group ward managers and lead the E-Rostering team, to ensure that staff use the systems to maximum potential and provide reports such as (but not limited to) effective real time management of staffing levels, bank and agency utilisation and red flag reporting.
Audit processes related to nurse staffing management and policy documentation – ensuring all SOPs/policies are up to date and being adhered to.
Work with software suppliers to ensure service levels are maintained for the benefit of the Trust. This will include service improvement and operational performance management with the suppliers.
