Housing Support Worker – Supported Exempt Accommodation (SEA)

Location: Birmingham (Primarily based at one location with regular visits to our supported accommodation properties.)

Job Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Salary: £13.50 per hour

About Elmfield Housing

Elmfield Housing provides high-quality Supported Exempt Accommodation across Birmingham, supporting vulnerable adults to achieve stability, independence and positive long-term outcomes.

Working alongside Registered Social Landlords (RSLs), Birmingham City Council and partner agencies, we deliver professional, person-centred support that meets the standards expected within the Supported Exempt Accommodation sector.

We are looking for an experienced Housing Support Worker who understands the demands of supported housing and is committed to delivering high-quality support while maintaining excellent compliance standards.

About the Role

This is a housing support role within Supported Exempt Accommodation.

This is NOT a care home, domiciliary care or CQC-regulated care position.

The successful candidate will be primarily based from our office, managing a caseload of residents across our accommodation services. The role combines office-based administration with regular visits to our nearby properties to deliver support sessions, complete assessments and ensure residents are progressing towards independence.

You will play an important role from the point of referral through to move-on, ensuring residents receive structured, outcome-focused support throughout their stay.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct initial referral assessments to determine suitability for accommodation.
Carry out pre-admission interviews and needs assessments.
Complete resident inductions and move-in documentation.
Develop, implement and review person-centred support plans.
Deliver weekly one-to-one keywork sessions.
Maintain detailed, professional and audit-ready support notes.
Complete and review risk assessments.
Carry out regular welfare checks and property visits.
Support residents with:
Universal Credit and Housing Benefit
GP registration and healthcare services
Education, employment and training
Budgeting and financial management
Independent living skills
Accessing specialist support services
Promote tenancy sustainment and positive resident engagement.
Identify safeguarding concerns and manage risks appropriately.
Work closely with Registered Social Landlords, Birmingham City Council and external agencies.
Ensure support files remain compliant and inspection-ready.
Assist with internal audits and compliance monitoring.
Support residents through transfers, move-on and planned departures.
Maintain professional boundaries and represent Elmfield Housing to a high standard.

Essential Experience

We are specifically looking for applicants with experience in:

Supported Exempt Accommodation (SEA)
Supported Housing
Housing Support
Homelessness Services
Tenancy Sustainment
Managing resident caseloads
Completing support plans, support notes and risk assessments
Working within compliance and audit frameworks

Desirable Knowledge

Registered Social Landlord (RSL) requirements.
Birmingham Supported Exempt Accommodation standards.
Housing Benefit and Universal Credit.
Safeguarding vulnerable adults.
Mental health, homelessness, substance misuse and complex needs.
Microsoft Office and digital case management systems.

This vacancy is for an experienced Housing Support Worker within Supported Exempt Accommodation.

Applicants with experience solely in residential care, nursing, healthcare assistant or domiciliary care roles are unlikely to be suitable unless they also have experience within housing-related support.

Working Pattern

Full-time (37.5 hours per week).
Primarily based from one location.
Regular visits to nearby accommodation schemes.
Occasional flexibility may be required to meet operational needs.
