Full job description

EDGE INNOVATE are looking to hire a Senior R&D Engineer to join our busy Design Team.

You will be responsible for working on new product development from product concept & join a team that are essential in helping the company grow in a profitable manner. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as part of this role will include mentoring junior members of staff. Having previous experience in a manufacturing environment working with crushing and screening equipment will be essential.

Salary: Based on Experience

Key Responsibilities:

Service Delivery

Manage design projects and develop new products for the company and recommend appropriate timing for introduction to the market.
Manage projects through from concept, design, support build and to installation.
Co-ordinate with colleagues to support the sales team with technical specifications, site visits and technical advice throughout the process.
Meet regularly with the Engineering Manager and Design Team to ensure effective communication of information relative to potential business improvement initiatives.
Produce project status reports and other information as required by the Management Team to inform financial, sales and operational planning.
Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
Co-ordinate with other departments relative to Engineering Design.
Follow all Company processes relating to equipment design.
Contribute in the company’s continuous improvement initiatives.
Ability to work on and oversee multiple projects at any one time.
Check and approve drawings using design processes, procedures and checklists.
Resolve design quality issues as they arise, managing the design and provide detailed solutions.
Develop and train Design Engineers in design office processes and procedures.

Perform any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.

PERSON SPECIFICATION – SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER

Criteria Essential

Qualifications/Experience

· Good standard of education (to include English and Maths) with 5 years Design experience gained in a manufacturing environment/quarry and recycling equipment

Educated to degree in an Engineering discipline with 4 years Design experience gained in a manufacturing environment/quarry and recycling equipment

· Experience with CAD design

· Product Development experience

Desirable

· Project Management experience

· Solid Works or Pro/Engineer experience

Knowledge

· Awareness of relevant safety standards

· Manufacturing process awareness

Skills and Competencies

· Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including effective presentation and influencing skills

· Excellent analytical, innovative and problem-solving abilities

· Solution focused, with ability to work on own initiative

· Ability to be creative and innovative

· Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure

· Ability to work un-supervised and as part of a team

· Ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy

· IT literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Office ie Outlook, Excel and Word

Circumstances

· Ability to work flexible hours and to travel as required to ensure business needs are met

· Current driving licence and vehicle available for business use
