ABOUT THE ROLE

Nestled on the shores of the Urr Estuary in the picturesque village of Kippford, The Anchor Hotel is one of Dumfries & Galloway’s most beloved coastal retreats. With sweeping estuary views, a warm community feel, and a reputation built on honest, quality food, this is a kitchen with real soul.

We’re looking for a talented and driven Sous Chef or Chef de Partie to join our team at a genuinely exciting moment - as we head into a full refurbishment this winter, preparing to relaunch with a fresh identity and elevated dining experience. This isn’t just a job - it’s a chance to be part of something being built from the ground up, in one of Scotland’s most beautiful corners.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Playing a key role in day-to-day kitchen operations alongside the Head Chef
Helping to shape and develop menus that celebrate local Scottish produce
Maintaining the highest standards of food quality, preparation, and presentation
Contributing ideas and creativity as the restaurant evolves through refurbishment
Overseeing and supporting junior kitchen team members
Ensuring food hygiene, allergen awareness, and kitchen safety standards are upheld
Adapting confidently across a varied service style

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Proven experience in a professional kitchen at Sous Chef or Chef de Partie level
A passion for great food and a pride in what you put on the plate
Someone who thrives in a close-knit, hands-on team environment
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure
A positive, can-do attitude - especially valuable during an exciting period of change
Familiarity with Scottish produce and seasonal cooking is a big plus
Relevant food hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)
