Job Summary

We are looking for a Bus Dismantling Operative to join our team. This role involves the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant dismantling of buses and large passenger vehicles. You will remove reusable components, process scrap materials, and ensure all work meets safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Dismantle buses and large vehicles using hand tools, power tools, burning equipment, and lifting machinery.
Identify, remove, and label reusable components including engines, gearboxes, electrical systems, body panels, and interior fittings.
Sort and process scrap materials including metals, plastics, wiring, and fluids in line with environmental regulations.
Drain and safely dispose of vehicle fluids including fuel, oil, coolant, and hydraulic fluids.
Prepare salvaged parts for storage or redistribution, ensuring accurate tagging and documentation.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following all site safety rules and PPE requirements.

Skills & Experience

Experience in vehicle dismantling, automotive repair, or mechanical work preferred but not essential.
Strong mechanical aptitude and confidence using tools and equipment preferred but not essential.
Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Good attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes.
Physically fit and comfortable working in a manual outdoor/industrial environment.
Ability to follow instructions.
Training will be provided.

Desirable Qualifications

NVQ or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
Training in hazardous waste handling or depollution.
Forklift licence/experience.
360 Excavator Grab licence/experience.

Personal Attributes

Reliable, punctual, and safety conscious.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Practical problem solver with a hands-on approach.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.

Working Conditions

Yard-based environment.
Exposure to noise, dust, oils, and outdoor weather.
Manual handling of heavy components.
PPE must be worn at all times.
