Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a friendly and professional Retail Assistant for our pawnbrokers shop. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing merchandise, and supporting daily operations within a busy retail environment. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop valuable skills in sales, merchandising, and customer relations while working in a dynamic team

Duties

Greeting customers warmly and assisting with their enquiries in a courteous manner
Managing merchandise displays and ensuring the shop is well-presented at all times
Conducting transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems and handling cash or card payments
Upselling products and services to maximise sales opportunities
Providing information about pawnbroking services and loan terms to customers
Maintaining organised records of transactions and stock levels
Handling phone enquiries professionally following proper phone etiquette
Assisting with stock replenishment and inventory management
Supporting the team with daily operational tasks to ensure smooth shop functions

Skill

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively
Basic maths skills for handling cash, calculating prices, and managing stock counts
Customer-focused attitude with friendly interpersonal skills
Ability to upsell products tactfully to enhance sales performance
Good organisational skills to keep the shop tidy and well-stocked
Effective phone etiquette for handling customer calls professionally
Experience in merchandising or retail sales is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
