Pure Innovations Ltd is a forward-thinking charity with a 30-year legacy of empowering people with disabilities and barriers to education and employment. We’ve been transforming lives across Greater Manchester by providing life-changing opportunities to young people through tailored education and employability programmes. From school partnerships to Supported Internships, our work is driven by the belief that every individual deserves a chance.

In 2022, we opened Pure College, a specialist employability college for students aged 16-24 with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP). This dynamic, inclusive setting has rapidly grown, and this year we’re proud to offer 36 student places. Our aim is to give students the knowledge and skills to succeed in life: through work experience, industry placements, travel training, and a focus on building confidence, wellbeing, and independence.The Student Wellbeing Officer will play a key operational role in promoting and supporting the emotional, social, and mental wellbeing of all students at Pure College and across the Supported Internship sites.

Working under the direction of the Progression and Wellbeing Manager, the postholder will lead on the coordination of student wellbeing check-ins, manage day-to-day pastoral concerns, and facilitate early intervention and referral to internal and external support services.

This role will help ensure that every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn, contributing to a positive college culture where wellbeing and personal development are at the heart of practice.

Key Responsibilities

Student Wellbeing and Pastoral Support

· Coordinate and oversee all student wellbeing check-ins across the College and Supported Internships.

· Monitor wellbeing data and follow up with students requiring additional support or intervention.

· Manage daily wellbeing concerns, providing appropriate guidance, emotional support, and escalation when needed.

· Complete referrals to Talking Therapies, the Community Hub, and other external agencies.

· Provide pastoral support and act as a trusted, approachable point of contact for students.

· Maintain accurate and confidential records of all wellbeing interactions in accordance with safeguarding and data protection policies.

· Support the delivery of small group sessions or 1:1 work focused on emotional regulation, resilience, relationships, and confidence.

Operational Support and Communication

· Work closely with the Progression and Wellbeing Manager to ensure consistent wellbeing processes are embedded across all study programmes.

· Liaise effectively with Learning Coaches, Tutors, and Curriculum Leads to ensure that pastoral information is communicated appropriately and actioned in a timely manner.

· Support with parent/carer communication relating to wellbeing concerns, progress, and support plans.

· Contribute to multi-agency meetings, EHCP reviews, and internal wellbeing panels as required.

· Escalate safeguarding concerns promptly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL.

Wellbeing Resources and Development

· Create and update wellbeing resources and signposting materials for students, parents, and staff.

· Design and distribute termly wellbeing newsletters or leaflets detailing community activities and support available during college holidays.

· Maintain a digital and physical bank of resources on mental health, personal development, and positive lifestyle choices.

· Support student voice activities and wellbeing-focused events within the college calendar.

Monitoring and Reporting

· Support the Progression and Wellbeing Manager to collate wellbeing data for SLT and quality reports.

· Monitor attendance and engagement patterns, contributing to early intervention strategies.

· Provide feedback and contribute to the ongoing development of the College’s Wellbeing Strategy and Quality Improvement Plan.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential:

· Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience) in Health & Social Care, Youth Work, Counselling Skills, or related field.

· Safeguarding training (minimum Level 2).

· Mental Health First Aid or equivalent wellbeing training.

· Evidence of continued professional development in SEND, SEMH, or pastoral support.

Desirable:

· Level 4 qualification in Counselling, Coaching, Youth Work, or Wellbeing Support.

· Training in restorative practice, trauma-informed approaches, or positive behaviour support.

· First Aid qualification.

Experience

Essential:

· Experience supporting young people with SEND or SEMH needs in an education or care setting.

· Experience managing wellbeing or pastoral concerns and coordinating support or referrals.

· Experience working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and external agencies.

· Experience in implementing interventions with a person-centred approach

Desirable:

· Experience developing wellbeing resources, workshops, or group interventions.

· Experience within a post-16 or further education environment.

Skills and Attributes

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust.

· Compassionate, empathetic, and calm under pressure.

· Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

· High level of confidentiality and professionalism.

· Commitment to equality, inclusion, and promoting positive outcomes for young people with SEND.

General

· Adhere to all College policies, including Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, and Data Protection.

· Participate in training and CPD relevant to the role.

· Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Progression and Wellbeing Manager or Senior Leadership Team.
