What You Will Be Doing
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Manager to join our precision engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality-focused professional to play a key role in ensuring that high-precision components and assemblies meet the exacting standards required by our customers.
Working closely with Production, Engineering, and Management teams, and reporting directly into the Managing Director, you will be responsible for carrying out inspection activities throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards. You will contribute to maintaining our reputation for quality while supporting continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 and relevant industry standards.
· Drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the business.
· Manage internal, external, customer, and certification audits, ensuring compliance requirements are met and maintained.
· Lead investigations into audit findings, and quality non-conformances, conducting root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventative actions.
· Support the achievement and maintenance of quality accreditations and customer-specific requirements.
· Utilise a range of precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other inspection tools.
· Ensure accurate completion and control of inspection reports, quality records, calibration records, and manufacturing documentation.
· Identify non-conforming products and work closely with production teams to resolve quality issues and implement process improvements.
· Provide quality guidance and support across the business, promoting best practice and compliance with quality standards.
· Ensure measuring equipment is calibrated and controlled in accordance with quality requirements.
· Promote and maintain a safe, organised, and professional working environment in line with company health, safety, and quality standards.
What We Are Looking For
Requirements
· Proven experience as a Quality Manager within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
· Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and GD&T.
· Experience using a wide range of manual inspection and measuring equipment.
· Excellent understanding of dimensional inspection techniques and quality control processes.
· Experience inspecting precision-machined components to tight tolerances.
· Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.
· Good problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and investigate quality issues.
· Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
· Strong commitment to health, safety, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation.
· Strong knowledge of the latest ISO quality tools and techniques.
· Previous Quality Management System Auditing experience and managing audit programmes
· Good understanding of ISO9001
· Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing skills preferable
